With our growth of new programs, we now have more information available for students to reference, and we are expanding our black belt requirements. Our purpose in providing these materials and classes is to increase knowledge and awareness in our students and providing better instruction by giving our instructors more teaching tools.
[ Private Lessons: Tang Soo Do 2000 will be offering daily private lessons to interested students. There is a $30 fee per each hour lesson, $20 per half an hour. All interested students should contact an instructor beforehand to schedule an appropriate time.
[ Safety Equipment: As in any physical activity, you and your child must have appropriate safety equipment in order to participate! Everyone is required to have specific equipment, safety gear, and membership fees paid before they are are eligible to test for a new belt rank. All new students must purchase the following at registration: Uniform, AIKIA Membership and Patch, American Flag Patch, Mouth Guard, Groin Protector (this if for all male students regardless of age or rank!!), and Student Handbook. All safety gear (head gear, gloves, feet, and shin guards) must be purchased before a student tests for their yellow belt. For safety and health issues, Tang Soo Do 2000 cannot loan gear out to students. An instructor will go over equipment and membership costs during registration.
[ Student Handbooks: All students are required to purchase a Student Handbook. The handbook will provide information on all equipment costs and testing fees, from white to black belt. The handbook will also provide all requirements for each belt rank, $6.00 for b&w copy, $10.00 for colored. Please request your Student Handbook from an instructor today.
[ Teaching Classes: All 1st Degree Red Belt students and up, will need to become certified in Teaching before they can test for their Black Belt (see your handbook). Eligible students will be required to purchase a Certification Manual, attend classes in Teaching Do's, and How To's, and to begin teaching regularly scheduled classes. Instruction and teaching classes will be announced as they are scheduled. Please refer to your handbook for additional information, or talk to Mr. Finnianous. You not only need to know how to do a technique properly, but you must also know how to effectively communicate and demonstrate it to a new student.
[ Black Belt Club: In order to become a member, you must show a positive attitude inside and outside the studio, have good attendance, and be a purple belt or higher (additional qualifications do exist). Black Belt Club Members will receive a discount on Macho Shop (excludes food, book and media) purchases, be able to attend additional BBC only weekend events and seminars, and will get to wear the BBC t-shirt and patch.
